The easiest method for most people is to use an alert in iCal (in Mac OS X 10.7 or earlier) that runs an AppleScript. So, let’s take it for granted that you have an AppleScript or Automator app, or something similar, that does what you want automatically and is only waiting for some way to trigger it at specific times.
